Product Notes:
Wouldn't it be great to have something that's sweet and good for you? You can -- or rather, Yacon, with the syrup or powder from this sweet-tasting root from the Smallanthus sonchifolius plant native to South America, which looks a bit like a sweet potato.
Yacon has a high FOS (FructoOligoSaccharides) content that we don't digest ourselves, so not only does this sweet fibre have a very low glycemic index value which won't cause blood sugar to spike, but it also functions as a prebiotic to nourish the healthy bacteria to help our gastrointestinal tract and digestive systems function better.
Studies have shown that yacon can reduce constipation, enhance mineral absorption, and help regulate serum cholesterol; and that daily consumption can have a favourable effect on serum glucose in the elderly; and that it could significantly decrease the body weight, waist circumference and body mass index in obese pre-menopausal women with insulin resistance
