Product Notes:
A Container Without Limits
As much as Vitamix customers appreciate the durability and versatility of the standard Tritan containers, this new Stainless Steel model has several appealing features, including being a nice intermediate size (better suited to smaller households or smaller batch recipes than the standard 64 ounce containers); having better thermodynamics (users report the cold mixes come out colder, and the hot ones hotter); and sheer aesthetics, both when new (some really like the retro look of a steel container, in more contoured lines than the original vintage machines had) and as time goes on (its overall appearance will remain the same, while the plastic ones may become cloudy, scratched, or stained).
Construction
Of course, while the container itself and the standard 'wet' blades it comes equipped with are made of odor- and stain-resistant and non-reactive stainless steel, its Lid and Plug are still made of transparent BPA-free Tritan plastic, to enable you to you see how well the blend is progressing and determine whether you need to adjust the settings without having to stop the machine prematurely.
Advantages of Stainless Steel
In addition to having a more sleek appearance and being more durable than the Tritan ones (better able to withstand both the extremes of temperature and accidental drops), these containers reportedly have many other virtues from a user's perspective, including: being quieter to operate; producing a better blend quality, whose end results are either hotter or colder (depending on ingredients you start with) than if prepared in regular containers; being less likely to drip from the spout when you cease pouring; being easier to clean (they are Dishwasher Safe).
Steel Vitamix containers are far less prone to getting stained (which can happen to the Tritan containers, with heavily pigmented foods, such as turmeric) or cloudy (which might happen if the foods are quite acidic); or developing scratches (which sometimes happens to the Tritan containers when blending hard items like seeds); or to carrying lingering odors - no matter what you make.
