The Model A3500 Ascent Blender offers the full range of Vitamix control options: a pulse feature, to layer a coarser chop into a smooth purée; a 10-speed dial for manual control, so you can set your own preferred textures and times; a built-in timer, which you can use to monitor the progress, or set for automatic shut-off when it reaches a certain time; and five program settings, for walk-away convenience and to ensure consistent results.

Vitamix is probably the finest make of blenders available to home consumers, but until now, you were faced with a dilemma over whether to get their personal-sized blender capable of making smoothies directly in its own travel cup, or a full-sized one with larger containers which are capable of making enough soups or sauces or frozen desserts for the whole household.

The new Ascent Series blenders are capable of doing both, being compatible with a whole new family of container sizes (ranging from 1 to 8 cups in capacity, including a 20-ounce spill-proof travel cup [sold separately]).

They can even detect which type of container is being used, so for models like this which include pre-programmed settings, they can automatically adjust the maximum blending times suitable for that size, or whether that program can even be used (it is unsafe to make hot soups in the small containers, for example).

Another addition to this series is a digital timer, to display exactly how long something is being blended (to enable you to replicate your results, when on manual mode), or how much time is left (on a preprogrammed cycle).

Ascent blenders even have a built-in wireless connectivity, which may become advantageous if future applications or capabilities are developed for it (to save or input your own customized program settings, for example).
