Product Notes:
An important amino acid, L-Glutamine is involved in the synthesis of antioxidants and their cofactors such as reduced glutathione, NAD(H), NADP(H), and nitric oxide.
As such, it makes for an excellent post-exercise natural recovery option, in lieu of high fructose/glucose laden energy drinks. Other times when a higher dose supplementation such as this one by Protocol for Life Balance may be indicated include when the intracellular skeletal muscle concentration of glutamine has been adversely affected by certain injuries, prolonged stress, sepsis, or starvation. L-glutamine can also decrease red blood cell oxidant injury, and has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration as an adjunctive therapy for preventing acute episodes of pain in people with Sickle Cell Disease. Its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects can also benefit the circulatory and digestive systems.
