Product Notes:
Modern research has shown Berberis vulgaris can increase the production of insulin receptors in our cell membranes, which likely accounts for why it's been found to lower blood sugar levels after meals (since insulin metabolizes sugar), reduce fasting blood sugar levels, and improve blood sugar markers.
For people with Type 2 diabetes, studies also indicate that Berberine, as nutritional support, may help to lower blood glucose, triglycerides, total cholesterol, and LDL cholesterol significantly better than a placebo, on par or better than some medications. Some users and proponents have referred to berberine as 'nature's Ozempic' in reference to its anti-diabetic properties. As with all supplement use, it's best to consult your health practitioner before making changes to any existing medications.
Berberine may also have important cardiovascular benefits: It's been shown to be able to help with arrhythmias, and for those who had suffered congestive heart failure, it was found that when conventional treatments were supplemented with Berberine, there were fewer deaths, and patients' outcomes (such as more tolerance for exercise, less fatigue, and fewer episodes of shortness of breath) improved.
Finally, berberine hydrochloride has also been proving itself useful in helping with Diarrhea-Predominant Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS-D), because of its "antimicrobial, gut eubiotic and antisecretive actions, and its ability to slow gut motility." Berberine is also recommended by some practitioners as part of a nutritional protocol for treating SIBO.
