Product Notes:
Price may vary in-store.
This is a very solid, well-constructed item (it weighs over 3 pounds, including the plastic collection bowl) that should stand up to many years of heavy use.
This near restaurant-grade Professional Chopper consists of:
* A 10-inch long, 4-3/4" wide "chopping deck" on a 2-1/4" high stand with nonslip feet, which has two sets of 3-1/4" wide grids of sharp stainless steel blades set into it:
- a fixed smaller rectangular grid (1-1/2" across ) with 8 rows of blades forming 1/8" holes for mincing several cloves of garlic with at once, for example; and,
- a bay twice that size (over 3 inches, nearly square) for larger items like tomato halves, into which you insert a "chopping plate" with either 1/2" holes (for chopping) or 1/4" holes (for dicing), depending on your preference or the type of food. These chopping plates have a lip on one side to pry them out with your fingers to switch between them.
* A "pushing lid" of the same size, which is securely attached on one end and pivots 180 degrees (like the lid of a photocopier or a 'George Foreman' style grilling iron), either completely open to insert the food (or for cleaning), or completely closed over the deck, to fully chop (or for storage). This lid has two "pushing grids" built into it with scores of knobs which line up with the cutting blades to push the food through them. There are also gray mats which fit over the pushing knobs which can (and should) be pulled off when you're done cutting, to facilitate cleaning.
* A 2-inch high transparent rectangular collection bowl / base container, which snuggles nicely right under the deck to collect the food as you chop, if desired, and which is suitable to serve it in, as well, and which can also store the other chopping blade when not in use. It can hold about 3 cups (720 ml).
* A "cleaning pick" (the dark gray sucker-shaped item in the bottom left photo below) which attaches to the deck for storage, for safely pushing any residual bits of the cutting blades.
Composition:
Materials: ABS (Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene), LDPE (Low-density polyethylene), PP (Polypropylene), SAN (Styrene acrylonitrile), Stainless Steel and TPE (Thermoplastic elastomers).
Dishwasher safe (top rack only); remove the gray mats from the pushing grids first.
