Product Notes:
Pycnogenol is a concentrated natural extract from the bark of a particular kind of pine tree grown without any pesticides or herbicides in an unspoiled forest on the southwest coast of France.
Some use Pycnogenol as a Complementary and Alternative Medicine therapy for autoimmune (allergies, asthma), cardiovascular (to prevent stroke, heart disease, and varicose veins), dermatologic, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal and neuropsychiatric disorders. Other uses reportedly include for reducing osteoarthritis, diabetes, Raynaud's Syndrome, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), ringing in the ears, menopausal symptoms, painful periods, endometriosis, erectile dysfunction, and retinopathy.
In fact, several recent studies have shown Pycnogenol has several benefits for menopausal and perimenopausal women in reducing cardiovascular risk factors (by decreasing slightly elevated cholesterol and triglyceride levels, normalizing fasting glucose levels, and lowering slightly increased blood pressure to normal) and in combatting hair loss. It's even been shown to help prevent recurrent urinary tract inflammation or infections (UTI) and Interstitial Cystitis!
