If you're in the throes of menopause and being buffeted by hot flashes, night sweats, and/or mood swings, you likely just want to get some peace without raising the risks of developing blood clots, strokes or breast cancer, of course. This soy-free formula combines standardized extracts of six types of herbs commonly used and recommended for such purposes as safer natural alternatives to Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).

Product Notes:

Although it's long been called "The Change [of Life]", menopause can bring a whole cascade of changes, which often require quite a number of counter-measures to smooth out the hormonal fluctuations inducing the unwanted symptoms, using plant-based analogues. In this formulation, these include:

* Black Cohosh, which has serotonergic effects, to help relieve night sweats, hot flashes, anxiety, and mood swings, depression, and anti-inflammatory properties to help reduce joint pain and stiffness;

* Chasteberry is used to balance hormonal fluctuations not only in menopause but also PMS; it may help alleviate breast tenderness, pelvic discomfort, and interrupted sleep;

* Dandelion is used to help the liver metabolize excess hormonal levels, and possibly to induce estrogenic activity;

* Dong Quai is used help reduce estrogen deficiency symptoms, and studies have shown improvements in hot flushes and night sweats when combined with other herbs like these;

* Red Clover, whose isoflavone content may have estrogen-like effects to help reduce hot flashes, lower systolic blood pressure (at least in early menopause), and guard against weak and brittle bones; and,

* Wild Yam, to help relieve menopausal arthritis and osteoporosis.

Looking to avoid soy? New Roots Herbal Menopeace uses a different source of isoflavones (red clover) to help reduce hot flashes.
