All of the minerals in LeafSource's Humic-Fulvic Acid Complex are drawn from a single, private, protected source, to provide consistent quality, with none of the toxic heavy metals, or artificial preservatives like potassium chloride or sodium benzoate which might accompany other shilajit and/or fulvic acid products. This is confirmed on an ongoing basis with rigorous third-party testing for the purity and safety of the current product (which has been around for 20 years, now).

In addition, unlike most other types of products in this category which need to use chemicals such as methanol (wood alcohol) to extract it because the resin they're starting with is much denser, LeafSource's version has been extracted solely with pure, filtered water (to remove its chlorine and fluoride), because its source material is more of a compacted soil than a resin.

Humic-Fulvic Acid Complex - Silicate Minerals

LeafSource can be categorized as a Humic-Fulvic Acid Complex, which sounds like a mouthful, but is fundamentally: fossilized vegetation, which contains those two types of organic acids, along with enzymes, organic carbon compounds, plant hormones, proteins, and other macro and micronutrients, including alkalizing minerals.

Of course, it's not the first product of its kind to provide that as a form of nourishment, for either human nourishment or plant growth. Coastal agricultural societies have been enriching their soils with fertilizer drawn from sea beds for aeons, while inland ones use peat moss.

For human consumption, Ayurvedic medicine has long used a form called Shilajit: a sticky substance produced from the slow decomposition of plants assisted by microorganisms (who create additional nutrients in that fermentation process) over the course of centuries in the rocks of the Himalayas. More recently, some other companies have been marketing fulvic and/or humic acid either purportedly from the Himalayas or from less pristine domestic sources - and perhaps not always the same ones from batch to batch.

In contrast, LeafSource's is sourced from a single site with known provenance and consistent potency. Its naturally preserved deposits extremely rich in both humic and fulvic acids are drawn from a prehistoric tropical rain forest that began somewhere between 65 and 100 million years ago, after the levels of a vast freshwater sea receded. The nutrients from what was once a seabed have been safely consumed by locals there for a great many years, before it became a privately owned site.
