The fabric upper of the Biel has a woven design, with several colour or pattern variations along its length giving it a sleek and slightly daring look, highlighted by the two-tone laces. It's intended more for the warmer spring and summer seasons or for indoor use rather than for fall or winter, however, because there are quite a number of ventilation holes on the outer layer to dissipate heat (in the area on either side of and below the 'ky' logo on the outer sides and the corresponding area on the logo-less inner sides).
Note, although it's not easy to discern in the photographs, these shoes all have 'shiny patches' in two areas (the eyestay and the heel counter) which might lead one to think there are strips of patent leather atop the textile there, but that is not the case: it is some type of thin, transparent synthetic material, presumably to protect those areas from scuffing or staining.

Size recommendation: kybun standard size (using their original sizing chart, wherein you measure your bare foot and choose the appropriate size for that length. Please note, the U.S. sizes presented on this page's ordering menu is for the original equivalences kybun made between the European and American sizes. They have since (beginning in late 2023) shifted that equivalence scale by a half size to match what their sister company Joya has been doing, so the actual labels on the shoe boxes or tongues of the shoes may be a half size smaller than what you ordered, but rest assured the correlation between the European sizes and the actual lengths remains the same.

This model is named after the tenth largest city in Switzerland, where many clocks and watches are made (which goes by 'Biel' for Swiss-German speakers or 'Bienne' for predominantly French-speaking ones).
