11 Key Enzymes - Both age and various digestive system problems can reduce our ability to produce the enzymes which enable us to adequately digest food, which can lead to malabsorption (or even malnourishment) and discomfort. Originally issued under the Innovite Health brand, and now appearing in an identical formulation under the parent company's sister brand, CanPrev, these Digestive Enzymes are a synergistic blend which can help break down the full-spectrum of proteins, carbohydrates, fats, fiber and dairy molecules in our diets to better absorb their nutrients.

Functions of the Individual Enzymes:
Amylase: breaks down two types of chemical bonds (a-1,4 and a-1,6) to more fully digest the various types of dietary starches or carbohydrates to liberate glucose and maltose.
Fungal protease: a mix of vegetarian enzymes (primarily a combination of trypsin, amylase, and lipase) that mimics the ones produced by our pancreas, to digest protein.
Bromelain: derived from pineapple, it breaks down proteins to form peptides and amino acids.
Lipase: A fat-splitting enzyme normally produced in our pancreas.
Cellulase: an enzyme that can break down fiber by hydrolyzing its nondigestible carbohydrates.
Papain: a broad mixture of proteolytic enzymes derived from the tropical fruit, Carica papaya, to easily and efficiently hydrolyze most types of soluble protein into peptides and amino acids.
Xylanase: a fiber-breaking enzyme to hydrolyze the nondigestible carbohydrates that comprise fiber.
Diastase: a starch-breaking enzyme to convert the complex sugars in grains into glucose and maltose.
Lactase breaks down the sugar found in milk and dairy products, by transforming lactose into its constituent parts, D-glucose and D-galactose.
Bacterial Protease enzymes help digest the proteins found in meats, eggs, cheese, legumes, nuts and other foods by breaking their internal bonds and their terminal bonds to produce shorter peptide fragments and release free amino acids.
Invertase: breaks down the disaccharides, trisaccharides and oligosaccharides in sugar that cause gastric discomfort for some, by catalyzing the hydrolysis of sucrose into its two components, D-fructose and D-glucose.
