Glucogreen is a unique combination of an herb (White Mulberry), two transition metals (Chromium and Vanadium), and an organosulfur compound (Alpha Lipoic Acid) to help promote healthy glucose metabolism.

About the Individual Ingredients:

While glucose is hardly something we'd want to get rid of (it's our cells' primary energy source!), we do want to keep its levels under control to prevent blood sugar spikes (which can trigger symptoms like fatigue, blurred vision, or headaches) and risking damage to our blood vessels, eyes, kidneys, and other organs.

White Mulberry contains compounds which affect how quickly sugars get broken down in the gut to get absorbed into the blood. Studies indicate it can produce a significant reduction in postprandial glucose (PPG) levels (the concentrations of plasma glucose) not only shortly after, at 30 minutes after eating, but also 60 and 90 minutes after.

DL-alpha-lipoic acid is not only an antioxidant which can help improve neuronal function and prevent certain kinds of cell damage (including the retinal damage and neuropathy or nerve damage that can be associated with diabetes), but also improve insulin resistance or metabolic syndrome.

Chromium and Vanadium, which are sometimes also paired together in related products, may also enhance or complement how our bodies use the insulin hormone to enable our cells to take up the glucose being circulated to use for energy.

In some respects, vanadium appears to act like insulin, and as nutritional support, it also appears that may help to improve how the actual insulin is used, among some people with type 2 diabetes. Similarly, some studies have found that chromium works to improve blood sugar metabolism not only in people with type II diabetes, but also in obese people.

Naming Note: this product may also be marketed as Nutridom Glucose Control or Nutridom Mulberry Max.

Glucogreen Ingredients:

Each capsule contains:

200 mg White Mulberry (Morus alba - leaf) (4:1 concentration, 800 DHE*) (2% 1-deoxynojirimycin)
300 mg DL-alpha-Lipoic acid
75 mcg Chromium (Chromium chloride)
25 mcg Vanadium (Vanadium sulfate)

Non-medicinal ingredients: Hypromellose (capsule shell), microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate.

*DHE = Dried Herbal Equivalent.

Suggested Usage:

Adults: Take 1 capsule two times daily. Take with food. Take a few hours before or after taking other medications (if applicable).

This video on Ways to Manage Blood Sugar first discusses the roles glucose plays in the body and how insulin works with it, and a number of diet and lifestyle factors to address when they have become out of balance, before addressing the some of the merits of the two products the holistic nutritionist partly associated with Nutridom recommends for this: Vitamin C and Glucogreen.

Warnings:

Consult a health care practitioner prior to using Gluco-Green Glucose Control if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or if you have diabetes. If you experience symptoms of hypoglycaemia including feelings of anxiety, dizziness, tremor, sweating, nausea or headache, discontinue use and consult a health care practitioner (as these may be symptoms of serious low blood sugar).
