Product Notes:
Change the Way You Do Laundry with Zero-Waste Detergent
Liquid laundry detergent typically comes in large plastic jugs. But waste plastic is becoming a tremendous burden on our ecosystem, and even where there are recycling programs in effect, many do not actually recycle the heavy grade plastic those jugs are made of. Even if they do, they require thoroughly cleaning before they'll even be accepted - otherwise, it's straight to the landfill. Plus, they take up a lot of space, they're heavy to transport and lug around, and can get quite messy. Detergent strips solve all those problems, and more.
These laundry strips come in 8.5 x 6 inch sheets, which contains 2 strips (there is a perforation in the middle to separate them), packaged in completely recyclable cardboard, without any plastic wrapping.
Eco Living Club laundry strips were developed by a new eco-friendly small business in Port Moody, BC, and are made with completely biodegradable natural ingredients (and without harsh chemicals, including bleach). They're safe for both white and coloured fabrics (although it's best to wash them separately, as usual) and septic tanks. It can be used in either hot or cold water (the latter is encouraged, especially for colours), in both regular and High Efficiency machines, whether they load from the top or the front. You can even do hand washing with it! It comes in a choice of Unscented, or a light, lemony Spring Scent.

Suggested Usage:
Eco Living Club Laundry Detergent Strips are tremendously easy to use, as illustrated in this 3-step graphic. (The first step [deciding how much you need] is actually the hardest, but one you're already used to, from whatever laundry product you're currently using.)
1) Select how much you need to use, as determined by the size of the load. A single strip – which is half a sheet (the sheets are perforated in the middle, so simply tear it in two) – will suffice for a regular load. (Which would be the usual amount of clothes, in a regular sized machine.) If it's a smaller load than that, just use 1/4 of a sheet (you're apt to need scissors for that). But if you're really packing the machine full, or using a larger machine, use either one and a half strips or a full sheet, for an extra-large load.
2: Place the strip in the laundry machine. If it's a top loading machine, just drop the laundry detergent strip in, so it falls to the bottom of the drum (be sure to do this first, before adding the clothes). If it's a front loading machine, it goes in the slide-out dispenser tray, where you'd ordinarily pour the liquid in. Depending on whether you're using just a half of a strip or as much as a full sheet, you may need to crumple, fold, cut, or tear them up to make them fit or to facilitate their dissolving completely as the water passes through the tray.
3) Add your clothes to the machine and turn it on, using your usual settings.
For hand washing, if you're washing 2 or 3 regular sized items by hand, for example, just use 1/4 of a sheet (or 1/2 a strip), and place it into the sink or laundry tub before adding the water to dissolve it, and then put the clothes in.
