Info: Available in 30 or 60 Vegetable Capsules (100 mg)

New! Although it's not yet as widely known as other types of plant-based protective compounds with anti-aging potential such as resveratrol, Fisetin is showing great promise not only to help prevent cell damage caused by oxidative stress from free radicals, but also to reduce inflammation and support a higher quality of life by helping eliminate defective 'senescent' (also called 'zombie') cells that aren't dying off like they should and are harming others.

Product Notes:

Fisetin is a type of dietary flavonoid: compounds found in many plants which not only help determine key characteristics like colour, flavour, or fragrance, but also have other functions like regulating cell growth and protecting against stressors – and tend to have potent antioxidant and disease-fighting properties when consumed.

Fisetin has been the subject of thousands of scientific studies, now. Many animal and human studies have shown that it's not only a powerful antioxidant which also helps preserve vitally important mitochondrial function and glutathione levels, but it can also cross the blood-brain barrier to support cognition and overall brain health (by protecting neurological function, promoting neuronal cell growth, and stimulating signaling pathways associated with long-term memory function).

It's also being heralded as being a promising anti-cancer agent; there are now over 5,000 studies on (or at least mentioning) that alone, in the PubMed Central scientific literature database.

Cellular Senescence

But what's really piqued many people's interest is how Fisetin may be able to support longevity and enhance quality of life by combating the phenomenon known as "cellular senescence."

The cells in our bodies are subject to various types of damage but can normally repair themselves before dividing, or, failing that, they get programmed to simply die off (a process called "apoptosis"). But some cells can become so far gone that there's also something preventing their apoptosis, and they become "Senescent" cells that are incapable of dividing (in order to prevent the proliferation of so many of those damaged cells that it becomes a tumor), yet they're still active enough to release toxins that cause inflammation near them.

Although that's useful when dealing with a recent wound or injury (the inflammation triggers immune responses to the area), these senescent cells can pile up over time, and the inflammation-inducing toxins they continue to release can damage other cells in their vicinity, turning them senescent, as well (hence, the "Zombie" moniker), which can degrade our capabilities and contribute to age-related diseases like osteoporosis or possibly Alzheimer's (depending on where it is occurring).

To combat that, "senolytics" are 'Zombie Hunters' that can selectively target senescent cells and induce their apoptosis to eliminate them (with the help of the macrophages in the immune system, which clear them away).

Fisetin has been shown to be a very effective senolytic: the most potent among 10 types of flavonoids tested (by Yousefzadeh et al. 2018; the others were: apigenin, catechin, curcumin, EGCG, luteolin, myricetin, pirfenidone, quercetin, resveratrol, and rutin), and has a much better safety profile than the pharmaceutical senolytic Dasatinib (Sprycel).
