Product Notes:
Ever heard of activated charcoal or carbon filters which purify either the water you drink or the air you breathe by capturing chemicals and VOCs (volatile organic compounds, or gases like smoke) and other substances which can cause unwelcome tastes, odors, and health problems? They start with a carbon-rich material like coconut shells and subject it to extreme heat and other processes such as steam to increase how many pores it has and to create more ragged edges, so it has more surface area and places for the pollutants streaming by to get stuck to.
But what if you could ingest a miniature activated charcoal filter to trap those sorts of toxins in your body? Well, here you can, by using purified, food-grade activated charcoal conveniently encapsulated in softgel form (which is far easier, or at least a lot less messy, to take than a loose powder).
More recently, the uses of this remarkably versatile substance have been extended to less urgent detoxification situations, as well as to reduce intestinal gas and bloating (by binding to gas it encounters while proceeding through the digestive tract).
Another potential use suggested by a pair of recent studies is to help prevent an overgrowth of Clostridioides difficile (aka C. difficile) in the large intestine which might be inadvertently caused by a course of antibiotics.
