Nutritional Supplementation Program Based on Triage Theory of Aging

To prevent the diseases of aging (cancer, cardiovascular disease, dementia and immune system dysfunction) Bruce Ames, PhD, has proven that there are about 40 essential nutrients required daily for optimum health, and that any single nutrient missing from the diet results in DNA and chromosomal damage, equal to radiation damage. Chromosomal and DNA damage are considered causative factors in the diseases of ages. Dr. Ames has proven that by ensuring you include these nutrients in your daily diet, that you will significantly lower the risk of cancer, heart disease, dementia and immune system dysfunction.

The nutrients identified by Dr. Ames as critical to good health, which can prevent the diseases of aging include:

Vitamins: Biotin (B7), Folic Acid (B9) (only MTHF form), Niacin (B3), Pantothenate (B5), Riboflavin (B2), Thiamine (B1), Vitamin A, Vitamin B6 (P5P is the best form), Vitamin B12 (methyl or hydroxo), Vitamin C, Vitamin D (D3 is most absorbable), Vitamin E (esp. gamma tocopherol), Vitamin K (K1 and K2).

Minerals: Calcium, Chloride, Chromium, Cobalt, Copper, Iodide, Iron, Magnesium, Manganese, Molybdenum, Phosphorus, Selenium, Sodium, Zinc.

Please note that all quality professional and non professional supplements require 3 per day (1 with each meal), 6 per day (2 with each meal), or 8 per day (2 with one meal, 3 with two meals). This is to ensure sustained blood levels of water soluble vitamins (B vitamins and vitamin C), which are critical cofactors (coenzymes) for the production of neurochemicals, hormones, and to extract energy from food. To complete the program, additional supplements (see below) are required to ensure optimum Vitamin E (gamma e), essential fatty acids, Vitamin D (no multi has enough) and Vitamin K2 levels. A protein supplement is recommended to ensure sufficient amino acids, and a food based fibre product (PanaChia, Nutracleanse) to ensure adequate fibre. Finally, probiotics are recommended to ensure optimum GI health, the promotion of digestive enzymes, to optimize nutrient absorption, and to normalize bowel function (especially if there are bowel irregularities, i.e. constipation, etc.)
